About Traction

After more than a decade working across agriculture, retail and sustainability, we saw a pattern: strategy rarely makes it to the farm gate. Traction was built to fix that.

We connect people and projects that make food systems stronger - bringing insight, action and momentum to every link in the chain.

Our Founder

Traction is led by Chris Manley, an agri-food leader with hands-on experience from farm to boardroom. He’s launched national farmer programmes for Tesco and Müller, delivered major sustainability strategies, and led supply-chain transformations for retailers across the UK. A Nuffield Scholar and member of the Future Food Movement Farmer Advisory Board, Chris is recognised for turning big ideas into practical results.

Why Traction?

Because we don’t just advise - we act. We bridge the gap between vision and delivery, linking people, plans and progress.

We connect. We complete. We catalyse.

That’s how businesses gain the traction needed for sustainable growth.

Our Network

Traction isn’t a one-person consultancy - it’s a collective of hands-on experts. Whilst every project we deliver is led by Chris, we work with a trusted network of associates who bring specialist skills in agriculture, food, retail and sustainability. Together, we link strategy to delivery, combine insight with action, and make sure every project gains the traction it needs.

Geographical Coverage

Traction is UK-based, with most work rooted in the UK and Ireland. We also work across wider European supply chains when projects require it.

Geography is rarely the constraint. We follow the supply chain, not a map, and work wherever relationships, decisions and delivery need us to be.
